some urban craft stars

so kingly court often has pop up shops that take place within the empty units that normally just sit with a bit ‘to let’ sign in the window, but this week opened such a shop and its called urban crat stars and is full of independant designers work, from decoupaged bowls and furniture to vintage fabric cushions and hand printed tea towels.

the shop has clothing for babies and adults and original artworks that are all priced very reasonably…maybe too reasonably ?..

the shop is open until the 31st august and is well worth a visit to see original lovely things….check out their blog here for more info and updates.

arty and bella

so this week in the shop we are delighted to welcome the designs of arty and bella, a brand spanking new collection of, hand made hair treats and accessories for discerning tots and stylish girls of all ages, (i stole that last sentence from the website…shhh dont tell anyone)

the collection was strated when the designer…bellas mum, could not find any nice hair clips for bella, so she unleashed her creative talents and made these herself, and after getting requests from other mums a small business was born, and here are the results, some lovely little things, made with love.

where it all began

carry me home is now a multi home kinda business..we have our little shop..we have a website..we have other stockists..but it all began some years ago at spitalfields market in the east end of London…and you know what, we can still be found there 2 times a week..come rain or shine…there is a roof over our heads but until recently this did not mean we did not get rained on..

on the stall we only sell the carry me home collection, and over the years we have built up a nice steady stream of regular customers from the surrounding sky scrapers and city offices that seem to pop up over night..

and its from this market that we have found some of our most succesfull independant designers..we are in an enviable postion to offer designers a space to sell ther goods..and this all helps to create the unique environment that is our current main place of activity..the shop…but we know that without this little metal framed stall..we might not be here at all..

it was too darn hot.

so its been a while since our last blog…and its because the boss was on holiday and left me in charge of the shop..and i was soooo busy i did not have time to write about anything…well she is back now from Greece and is cracking the whip and getting me back in shape and this new post is to show whilst some of us were hard at work…others were sunning themselves in far away places…just look how nice it is…
and just look at the smile on Gayle’s face..all sun kissed and glowing..happy and content…or is it sun stroke ?…you decide…either way I’m jealous… oh and thanks for the sweets..one word… YUM.

and now that the wheels on this organ are now fully turning again and me the monkey is slowly getting his act together, we both sat down and made some fab greetings cards from an old display we had in the window a while back…remember ?

well we picked some of the best images and turned them into all occasion cards, suitable for new babies, 1st birthdays, or any celebration, these cards are guaranteed to be unique and they are only available in the shop..never to be repeated…but don’t worry we have lots of images left just waiting to be given a new role..

limited edition

so this week in the shop we put together some limited edition sets for the website, each set is a unique grouping that is only available to website customers, so if you see something you like, then if i was you i would get it now as these wont hang around for long..

this was also a good opportunity for us to try some new ways of photographing the products..having a new-ish website is a constant learning curve, and to make the products look as good as possible for those of you who can only see them through the website is a job we try and take a serious as we can..

we don’t have model children at our disposal and we don’t have fancy schmancy photographers with lighting and backdrops..but i hope you agree we do a good job…a good job that can only get better.

so where are we ?

so today’s blog post is not about a new product or a cute toy we want to show you, but we wanted to give you an idea where we are and what the courtyard is like where carry me home is situated.we often don’t even notice what a cool place we work in, but sometimes when the sun is shining and there is a sound of chatter in the air, it makes us remember that this is not some boring high street in ordinary town, but a brilliantly unique environment for us to showcase to you and the world carry me home.

so if you don’t already know, we are in a place called kingly court, which is just of Carnaby street in central London, we are on the 2nd floor of the courtyard and from here we can watch the world below, with people having dinner on the outside tables, meetings taking place from the surrounding film companies, and occasionally spot celebrities whilst they are just out shopping trying to go un-noticed.. they don’t go un-noticed here in carry me home i can tell you. in our shop alone we have had Gwen stefani, sporty spice Mel c, and a whole host of other minor celebrity types that I’m sure think they are more famous than they are.

the courtyard is full of shops that range from high street names and more independent places like us, with a cool mix of styles and features from vintage clothing to modern t shirts, handmade jewellery and even a walk in massage centre…there is a shop for every taste.

so now you know where we are and that its a fun place to visit..remember kingly court when you next come this way and we hope to see you soon.

vintage inspired at carry me home

Hi everyone , We had some new things in the shop this week that I wanted to show you,
beautiful vintage inspired dress’s and shirt’s. The fabric is to die for roses, butterfly’s and mermaids for the girls and cowboys and pirates for the boys.
The dress’s have frills on the little cap sleeves and round the bottom hem,and to complete the look a matching bit that covers the nappy, too cute,I think they would be be perfect for a special occassion,a christening, birthday or wedding or just a lovely summers day! The dress’s are 100% cotton and come in newborn to 12-18 months .
Now I am always on the look out for cute, but cool things for boy’s as I know they are harder to find than girls.Well I think these shirts hit the nail on the head, I’ve been teaming them with jeans and a tank-top.. the cowboy and pirate prints are both classic, yet trendy.. the shirts are 100% cotton and come in sizes 0-3 months to 3-4 years.

give a gift with love

so here at carry me home we are not just full of toys and clothes, we have some lovely gifts that are perfect for baby showers and birthday presents,..I’m sure like us you often have no idea what to give a little one as a gift..so why not give them something more as a keepsake or a decorative item that they wont grow out of after a few months and that can be used in their rooms for years to come.
….so one of our best sellers is these l,e,d mobile lights that we have in single elephants, angels and moons, these hang from a small battery pack and slowly change colour, they are brilliant for illuminating a dark corner and are suitable for checking upon sleeping babies as they glow quite bright…these are also available as hanging mobiles with 3 of each design hanging at slightly different heights..see the web for more images.

we also have cute little photo albums that allow you to document the first months of a new born baby with space for names, age and place of birth, these are also on the website along with these fab wooden soldier skittles, we actually get more adults buying these for there own amusement…so come to carry me home for any gifts..you will be amazed at what we have.
